FAQ

For specific questions regarding orders and pricing, please email me.

Do you only paint dogs?

No! I love painting other animals. I've painted cats, guinea pigs, snakes (yes, really), horses, birds, ect... Most of my subjects have been dogs because I always seem to surround myself with wonderful dogs and their wonderful people.

What kind of photo should I send you?

The more detail in the face, the better! Clear, bright, high quality digital photos are preferred. I use a photo viewing software to zoom into and pull out as much detail as possible in order to create photo realistic portraits. If there is a photo that you absolutely love, but may not be the most clear, I may be able to pull some details from other photos you have in order to capture the details, however this occasionally doesn't always translate best.

& What if I don't have a digital photo? Although a quality digital photo of your pet is ideal, I do understand if the only photo available may be circa 1994 and in a shoebox in your mom's closet. If you only have a physical photo, you can scan, or take a good photo of it to email me. Older photos do not typically give me much detail to work with, however, I'd be happy to come up with a design and size that could suit the source photo you have.

What if I'm unhappy with my painting?

Although I do not offer refunds or exchanges, I will communicate with you throughout the process to ensure that your portrait meets and exceeds every expectation you have.

You're gonna love it.

How long will it take to complete my portrait?

Depending on the size and style of your order, portraits could take up to 6 weeks. If you have a time sensitive order, I may be able to provide a rush order for an additional cost.

What is your dog's name?

Thank you for asking! His name is Eddie Munster. He is a chihuahua mix rescue from TX, and doesn't mind the Maine winters! His favorite food is carrots, and he love children.

How are your prices figured?

Base prices (found on 'Orders' page) reflect time and materials spent. The smaller the painting doesn't necessarily mean the less time spent on a piece. I often times draw a subject several times before laying down paint. The process as a whole is time consuming and carefully executed as I do not sell work that I don't feel is up to my personal standards. You can expect excellent skill and a beautiful and original  piece of art when ordering from me.  See also: An art degree is expensive and someone has to pay for Eddie's carrots.

Do you make any other types of art?

I also paint watercolor portraits and illustrations! I'm focusing on my acrylic portraits for now, but plan to start accepting watercolor/illustration orders soon!

Do I have to have my painting on a canvas?

Your painting can be on a stretched canvas with neat painted edges, or on canvas paper which can be framed easily. Smaller portraits are typically framed, but completely up to you! If you'd like to have a "gift ready" portrait delivered, I can mat and frame a painting before shipping it out for an additional fee.

How much is shipping?

Shipping varies depending on the size and type of canvas. Shipping costs will be communicated upfront and included in the invoice you'll receive upfront.

Can you send it to me in a frame?

Sure can! If you'd like to receive your painting ready to hang or gift, I can send your painting in a simple quality frame that can be displayed immediately. Please let me know if you'd like to receive your order framed and we can discuss framing styles, prices and your options.
